COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER – UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERGAR RESEARCH PROJECT
Fieldworker (1 position)
8 – MONTH CONTRACT POSITION

The Centre for Health Policy (CHP) wishes to appoint a fieldworker on an 8 month contract to assist with the CHW-UHC research project (see: http://www.wits.ac.za/chp). The CHW-UHC project focuses on the implementation of the Community Health Worker policy in South Africa. The successful candidate will assist with fieldwork at PHC clinics. The study will be conducted in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Free State and Gauteng provinces, but the candidate will be required to spend time at Wits University in Johannesburg.

Brief Description
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

Qualifications and Competencies
· Relevant post-basic qualification(s) following matriculation
· Valid driver’s license
· Ability to drive between Gauteng, Free State and Kwa-Zulu Natal provinces, and between facilities
· Proficiency in using a smart phone and/or an electronic device (e.g. laptop, tablet or iPad)
· At least one year of fieldwork experience, preferably of mixed methods research projects
· Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Email and Internet), including computer typing skills
· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
· Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
· Accuracy, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
· Ability to follow through on instructions
· Fluency in English and Zulu. Proficiency in Setswana/ Sesotho will be an advantage
