Bosch Projects (Pty) Ltd, a member of the multi-disciplinary Bosch Holdings group of companies, founded in 1961, has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer – this position will be based in Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha and reports directly to the Divisional Manager AND an Engineer in Training (EIT) opportunity for a driven, confident and vibrant BSc / BEng Graduate in the Chemical / Process Engineering discipline to gain some invaluable experience via a three-year EIT programme – position is based in Kwa-Zulu Natal (Mount Edgecombe) and reports to the Divisional Manager: Sugar and Industrial.

Mechanical Engineering

Location: Elizabeth / Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, South Africa

Responsibilities:

  • Producing, maintaining and taking responsibility for all mechanical engineering deliverables required in the contract such as equipment specifications, general equipment arrangement drawings, piping drawings, input to PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, equipment lists, tender enquiry documents, tender comparisons and commissioning documentation.
  • Managing the preparation of relevant proposals, negotiation, and marketing processes.
  • Leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering project teams on varying appointments within the Industrial sectors.
  • Providing technical and management involvement throughout the project life-cycle, from inception, through feasibility into construction and commissioning.
  • Fulfilling a lead engineering role on multi-faceted industrial projects, where in instances, this could be performing such tasks whilst being on-site based;
  • Managing and maintaining Client relationships and co-ordinate project execution within scope, time, safety and cost requirements to the Client’s satisfaction;
  • Effectively managing sub-contractors as well as site staff;
  • Participation in engineering activities and interdisciplinary interfaces in close cooperation with the other discipline engineers;
  • Ensuring that all the projects are undertaken in accordance with the Quality Management System.

The Ideal Candidate should:

  • Have a BSc / BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have a minimum of three years engineering experience accrued working as a mechanical engineer in a relevant industrial environment or engineering consulting company.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of engineering projects and a broad understanding of other engineering disciplines; Civil, Process, Structural, Instrumentation and Electrical.
  • Have a keen interest in technology and continuous improvement.
  • Have effective computer skills e.g. Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, 3D Mechanical Engineering Design Software packages; Revit MEP.
  • Have experience in equipment, product storage, and piping system designs (preferable);
  • Be an honest and effective communicator, capable of managing deliverables against strict deadlines.
  • Be pro-active and able to take initiative in order to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Have strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Be prepared to travel within and outside RSA borders.

Chemical Engineering

Key Performance Areas:

  • Design and modelling;
  • Technical co-ordination, process and piping, instrumentation and control drawing specifications;

Requirements:

Qualifications and experience:

  • A BSc. / BEng. Chemical Engineering degree.
  • Previous work experience and strong academics will be advantageous.

Knowledge and technical skills:

  • Good MS Office skills with strong MS Excel skills.
  • Basic CAD skills.
  • Good English language skills (reading, writing and speaking.)
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
