To analyze and manage work environments and procedures and inspect workplaces for adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act and International Organisation for Standards requirements to design programs that prevent disease or injury to employees and damage to the environment.

experience and qualifications

Minimum Qualification – Relevant Degree or Diploma, Degree in Environmental Health and Safety preferred
Preferred Qualification – Post grad degree
Experience – 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar environment
Knowledge Required : Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHASA)
Sustainability principles
Green buildings and equipment life cycle
Supplier management (contract law

responsibilities

Ensure Environmental Health and Safety Business Processes are developed, implemented, reviewed and updated for facilities
Assess own performance through seeking timely and clear feedback and request training where appropriate
Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
Contribute to the development of a budget aligned to operational delivery plans, monitor effectiveness, and report on variances
Develop and implement facilities Environmental Health and Safety onsite requirements for contractors
Develop and execute the facilities environmental health and safety monitoring plan and track compliance to standards
Manage building continuity and emergency preparedness response plans and procedures
Prepare monthly EHS Risk and Sustainability Reports
Ensure Health and Safety awareness in terms of Occupational Health and Safety Act
Conduct EHS inspections to identify non-conformances to EHS standards for rectification
Manage implementation of internal and external audit programme and certifications and review of all operation matters of the auditing programme
Conduct Committee Meeting and track all complaints in line with OHS Act requirements
Ensure assigned facilities certification against International Organisation for Standards (ISO) for all buildings and manage adherence to requirements
Ensure a legal register and permits and licences for each building is maintained and linked to EHS Hazard and Risk Register
Manage facilities risk assessment register to mitigate high risks and incidents within each building
