Job Title: General Assistant Kitchen Location: Acornhoek, ZA Organization Name: Wits Rural Facility Department Description Purpose: To ensure that set tasks are completed daily and that the work stations and area of work is left ready for the following day by the end of business each day Brief Description Key responsibilities include the following: Performing routine tasks which may involve the use of chemicals, hand-held tools, machinery and equipment which often require some physical effort Cleaning of kitchen and/or dining halls Where applicable, washing of kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery and/or equipment Reporting repairs and maintenance issues Venue setups and clean-ups for functions e.g. chairs as and when needed Specialized cleaning and ad-hoc services as and when needed Unloading and distribution of consumables and cleaning materials as and when needed Ensure that housekeeping is done in accordance with procedures Waste Removal Ensure that Service Delivery within the University serves the Academics, Staff, external customers and Students in implementing the Services Department’s Strategic Goals Collaborate with Internal Customers, Stakeholders and External Service Providers so as to develop cooperation and Team Work Ensure that food preparation, equipment and serving area are cleaned after every meal services Ensure Food Safety Management Practices and Standards are adhered to in the kitchens and dining halls Ensure that Cleaning Standards, Machinery and Equipment, Personal Hygiene as well as Food Safety are maintained Implementation of Health & Safety rules, regulations in accordance with University Policy and Procedures, and relevant legislation, as well as Emergency Fire Evacuation procedures Report incidents and hazardous conditions and or anything that endangers the safety and security of the University communit Apply safe working procedures at all times Undertake duties and tasks as prescribed from time to time Required to work shifts, overtime or on weekends Requirements · Matric · Food Service/Hospitality related experience Required years of experience · 3 years Cook experience in Food Service Environment Technical Comptetencies Food preparation and Services Basic Finance Skills Ms Office Competencies (Knowledge, skilld and behavior) · Communication Skills · Creativity/Innovation · Problem Analysis · Empowering Others · Customer Focus · Teamwork · Work Standards/ Quality Orientation Compliance /statutory requirements /Knowledge, Understanding and or training) Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) HACCP Foodstuff, Cosmetics & Disinfectant Act Any other relevant Legislation and Regulation Detailed Description Job Requirements Additional Details How To Apply To apply: Please submit a covering letter clearly indicating which post you are applying for, detailed CV with names, addresses, contact numbers and e-mail addresses of 3 referees External applicants are invited to apply, by registering your profile on the Wits i-recruitment platform located at https://irec.wits.ac.za and submitting your application.
