RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidates will be linked to the Department of Veterinary Diseases (DVTD) at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, UP. In general, the responsibilities will include (based on qualification), but are not limited to:
Assisting academics with practical training of farmers and/or students on animal health aspects;
Assisting academics/researchers with Data collection and analysis in the identified research projects;
Assisting academics/researchers with collection, processing and analysis of samples in the field and identified laboratories;
Assisting academics/researchers with various administrative duties related to teaching and research activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Animal health technicians with a Diploma/BSc/BTech degree in Animal health;
BSc degree in biological sciences/zoology/microbiology/Agric (Anim Sci major);
Diploma in Veterinary Nursing/Bachelors in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent and registered as veterinary nurse with the South African Veterinary Council
Aggregate academic average of 60%;
Certified and clear copies of ID documents (date stamp not older than 3 months);
Certified and clear copy of the highest qualification or academic record (date stamp not older than 3 months);
South African citizen;
Able to start work on the 1st April 2022;
Between 18 and 35 of age.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
Graduates will be expected to work in areas where Foot and Mouth Disease is endemic and /or in areas where DVTD conducts its research.
PLACEMENT WILL BE IN THE FOLLOWING PROVINCE:
Limpopo
Mpumalanga
KwaZulu Natal
Kolo college (EC)
The all-inclusive remuneration package for this contract position will be R95,400 per annum.
