ROLE SUMMARY (PURPOSE)
This role will be appointed in terms of 7(4) of MHSA Act 29 of 1996 and under the regulation 2.17.1
KEY WORK OUTPUTS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsibilities
• Engaging with the DMR
• Conduct accident / incident investigations
• Relieving the Chief Safety Officer when not available to ensure seamless
transition
• Conduct audits to verify compliance with requirments
• Contractor management and compliance
• Recording of all reportable events on INX system
• Ensure that all actions are closed out on time
• Verify actions from events after investigation monthly
• Conduct induction training awareness weekly
• Conduct verification on mini risk assessment done on daily basis
• Verification of safety declaration on daily basis
• Spend time on the field to conduct safety observations
Qualifications/Experience/Skills/knowledge
• Grade 12
• National Diploma in Safety Management
• Accident investigation (ICAM/RCAT/SCAT)
• Knowledge of the INX System is an added advantage
• First Aid
• 5 years’ experience in a Mining Environment
• Computer literacy and Presentation skills
• OSHAS 18001
• SAMTRAC
• COMSOC 1 & 2
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Valid medical certificate. (Red ticket)
