Job Purpose
The role of the Investment Administrator will be to assist the team in executing daily tasks that will be set out by the Replications manager. The candidate will be required to uphold the highest standards, be prepared to perform functions at a moment’s notice.
Daily responsibilities include reconciling of cash, Units, Cost and Market Value. The candidate will also be responsible updating of Accounting system. Where applicable liaising with asset managers / clients.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Duties and Responsibilities
- Accountable for maintaining daily, monthly and quarterly processes and procedures and or client specific requirements on portfolio of funds
- Responsible for month-end process
- Accountable to produce quality Reconciliations and client specific needs within the required time frame per client SLA
- Working on Ad Hoc projects
- Analyzing and documenting risk exposure and asset variance
- Applying sound accounting knowledge to perform daily duties
- Ensure that processes are properly documented and regularly updated
- Assist staff in resolving complex and technical recon variances
- Working on specific projects set out by the Replications Manager
- Perform any additional responsibilities that may be required in the support of the ongoing management and development of the Replication services Business Unit
- Work as a back up to team members
- Have knowledge of financial instruments
- Have knowledge of how the financial markets operates
- Candidate should behave ethically
- Candidate should be receptive to feedback
- Candidate should be able to cope with change as the environment continually seeks ways to adapt to the ever-changing environment.
- Trade reporting & daily reconciliation.
- Adherence to Investment Administration procedures.
Skills and Competencies
- Proven competence and an aptitude for working with systems
- Knowledge and understanding of basic accounting principles
- Knowledge of Corporate Actions
- Driven, persuasive and able to motivate others
- Knowledge and experience with the use of Hiport 3
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of MS office & IT packages (particularly Excel should be at an intermediate level)
- Good understanding, knowledge and experience of back office administration processes and accounting
- Good analytical, problem-solving and strong accounting skills
- An aptitude for hard work and an ability to operate under pressure on a regular basis
- Work independently in meeting deadlines and still work within a team environment
- Achieving deliverables against agreed deadlines and managing of expectations with clients eg: Daily reporting;
- Self-motivated, conscientious and committed to meet tight deadlines and delivering work of a high standard
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); and Prepared to work non-standard working hours if necessary
- Structural and detail orientated
- Ability to prioritise work and meet strict deadlines
- Motivated and driven
- Recommendations and decisions need to be implementable, effective and well thought through.

Minimum Qualification and Experience
Required Experience, Qualifications & Education
- Minimum of 2 years fund accounting experience
- Minimum of 2 years Reconciliations experience
- BCom or equivalent completed
Reporting line:
- The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Replication Services
Working Hours:
- Candidate will be required to start work at 07:00 in the morning to ensure that they are able to meet daily deliverables.
