Purpose

  • The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a dependable, hard-working and self-motivated individuals to effectively assist the Directorate on Biodiversity Evidence’s (DBE) effort with the monitoring and collecting data on invasive species.

  1. Capricorn District Municipality X4
  2. Mopani District Municipality X5
  3. Sekhukhune District Municipality X3
  4. Vhembe District Municipality X5
  5. Waterberg District Municipality X3

Requirements

  • Applicants must have minimum Grade 12.
  • A higher certificate or degree will be an added advantage.
  • Furthermore, applicants must be South African Citizens and reside within the local municipality in the Limpopo Province (proof of residence is required i.e. letter from the Ward Committee/ traditional authority or utility bill).
  • Applicants must be physically and medically fit to do manual labour.
  • Ideally, the applicants must have experience in any of the areas listed below.

Skills & Competencies

  • The successful candidates must have sound interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate in English and any other official languages (read and write).
  • The successful candidates must be willing to work independently as well as in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data on occurrence and management of plants along roadsides;
  • Document the community’s knowledge of invasive species;
  • Monitor the emergence of alien plants along roadsides;
  • Conduct awareness at schools and community gatherings about invasive species; and
  • Execute administrative duties where necessary.
