Role purpose:
To provide support and consultation to Vodacom specific regions in relation to Health, Safety and Environmental issues as well as ensure that Vodacom SA retains system certification.
Your responsibilities will include:
Define and implement a regional HSE plan
Initiate transformational drives within the region to move HSE ownership to employees
Coordinate visible leadership initiatives and track cultural changes on behaviour and attitude
Manage and update the HSE system with current information
Develop, empower and conduct safety inspections in line with a site supervision model
Train or facilitate the training of regional staff on HSE related stator requirements
Drive the environmental strategy in the region through key stakeholders
Participate in internal and external audits as well as policy reviews and statutory enquiries
Identify high risk projects and ensure contractor compliance and project safety compliance prior to commencement
Project manage special HSE related projects including the task-group, project plan and take responsibility for the project deliverable
Provide specialist HSE support and consultation in the Region
Collate data and compile qualitative and quantitative reports aligned with board reports
Identify HSE risks, and methodically calculate risk to region. Identify and implement control plans to mitigate or manage the risk to an acceptable level within the risk
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
3-5 years experience (Essential)
Telecommunications experience and Vodacom HSE system knowledge/policies/standards recommended.
Matric and Degree/National Diploma in a Safety related field (Recommended)
Certificate in Environmental Management (Recommended)
A Completed NEBOSH/SAMTRAC Certificate (Recommended)
ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001) Occupational health and safety management systems —detailed knowledge
South African Health and Safety legislation – detailed knowledge (HSE)
Occupational Safety concepts – detailed knowledge
ILO Standards – basic knowledge
Risk Management principles and/or ISO 31000 – basic knowledge
Project management ISO 14001 – basic principles
Computer literacy
Interpersonal
Communication (verbal and written)
Presentation
Facilitation
Problem solving
