Description: | Faculty of Humanities Office of the Dean: Sesiu sa Sesotho National Lexicography Unit Intern (x2 positions – contract appointment: 1 year) Job ID: 4147 The purpose of the internship programme is to offer graduates (diploma/degree) with no relevant work experience the opportunity to obtain practical workplace exposure and experience. Duties and responsibilities: • Assist with compiling dictionaries. • Handle different terminologies daily. • Assist editor in chief with lexicographic and terminology material. • Assist with the travel and accommodation arrangements for Editor in Chief. • Assist with the managing of appointments for Editor in Chief. • Assist with harvesting new and old terminology. • Assist with terminology development of various disciplines. • Communicate with students, the public and UFS staff members. • File terminology daily. Inherent requirements: • A BA or B-Tech degree NQF level 7 in Language Practice or Communication with Sesotho as a major or a Bachelor’s degree on NQF level 7 in Languages with Sesotho as a major or a 3-year National Diploma on NQF level 6 in Language Practice or Media Studies with Sesotho as a major. Recommendations: • Not currently participating in an existing learnership / internship programme. • Willing to sign a learnership / internship agreement with the UFS. • Candidate must be available for a period of one (1) year. • Postgraduate qualification will serve as a recommendation.
